Free JSON and Data Tools: No Upload, No Login

Data work means constant small transformations: a JSON response that needs formatting, a CSV export that has to become JSON, two configs that should match but don't. Online utilities solve these problems fast, but most of them POST your payload to a remote server. That is a problem when the payload contains API keys, tokens, email addresses, order records, or anything else that would hurt you if it leaked. The nine tools in this category run completely in your browser. Your data is parsed, compared, converted, and generated on your own device and never touches a server.

    When to Use Each Tool

    Formatters and validators

    • JSON Formatter & Validator — Paste raw JSON, get back clean indentation and a syntax verdict. Reports the exact line and column of errors instead of a generic parse failure. Everything runs client-side, so production API responses with real user data are safe to paste.
    • JSON Diff/Compare — Paste two JSON structures side by side and get a field-by-field diff. Structural comparison, not text comparison, so key reordering does not produce false positives. Use it to see what a deploy actually changed in a config or API response.

    Converters

    • CSV to JSON Converter — Turns tabular CSV into an array of JSON objects, using the header row as keys. The fastest route from a spreadsheet export to an API-friendly payload, with no server round trip for your data.
    • JSON to YAML Converter — Converts JSON structures to YAML for config files, Kubernetes manifests, or CI pipelines. Preserves nesting and types, and strips the braces and quotes that make YAML readable.
    • HTML Table Generator from CSV — Builds clean, responsive HTML table markup straight from CSV input. Skips the manual loop of creating rows and cells when a dataset needs to land on a web page.
    • Base64 Encoder/Decoder — Encodes text to Base64 and decodes it back. Covers JWT segments, embedded assets, HTTP headers, and every other place Base64 shows up, all processed locally.
    • Base62 Encoder/Decoder — Converts values to Base62 and back, producing compact alphanumeric strings with no special characters. The go-to encoding for short URLs and unique identifiers that must survive URLs unescaped.
    • CSV Splitter/Merger — Splits oversized CSV files into smaller chunks or merges several datasets into one. Runs locally in the browser, so large files with sensitive rows never get uploaded anywhere.

    Generators

    • JSON Schema Generator — Feed it a sample document and it synthesizes a JSON Schema with types, required fields, and array item definitions. The standard starting point for API contracts and validation pipelines; review the generated schema and tighten constraints before shipping it.

The category also pairs with general-purpose utilities: use the Regex Tester in the Text Tools category to validate string formats before encoding them into a schema, and the Diff Checker (Text) when you need line-level comparison of raw text rather than structured JSON.

    Workflow

A typical data task with these tools:

    1. Format and validate first. Paste raw JSON into the formatter to confirm it parses and to see its structure clearly. Fix any syntax errors at the reported line before doing anything else.
    2. Compare against the expected shape. If the data should match a known structure, run JSON Diff/Compare between what you have and the reference. Field-level differences jump out immediately.
    3. Convert to the target format. CSV input goes through the CSV to JSON Converter; JSON headed for a config file goes through the JSON to YAML Converter; data headed for a web page goes through the HTML Table Generator.
    4. Codify the contract. Generate a JSON Schema from a trusted sample, tighten the constraints, and use it to validate future inputs.
    5. Sanity-check encodings. Decode Base64 segments in tokens or headers, and run IDs through the Base62 decoder, before assuming a bug is somewhere else in the pipeline.

Why Validate JSON in Your Browser?

Server-side JSON tools require uploading your payload, and uploads are where sensitive data leaks. Client-side processing means the bytes are parsed by your own browser's engine and stay on your device, which makes these tools safe for payloads containing credentials, PII, or unreleased product data. It also means the tools work offline once the page has loaded — useful on flights or locked-down networks. And because there is no network round trip, formatting or diffing a multi-megabyte document returns instantly instead of waiting on a queue. There is also nothing to install: the tools are plain browser JavaScript, so the same page works on Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile.

    Related Categories

    • Developer Tools — Encoders, hashers, and code utilities that complement data formatting and conversion work.
    • Text Tools — Diff checker, regex tester, and string manipulation for the unstructured half of your data tasks.
    • Security Tools — Password strength and encryption tools for when the data itself needs protection, not just formatting.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to paste production JSON into an online formatter?

Yes, when the tool processes entirely in the browser. The ToolSura JSON Formatter parses your data locally, so API keys, tokens, and PII never leave your device. Check that a tool has no network calls before pasting anything sensitive, then format, validate, and inspect freely.

What is the difference between a JSON diff and a text diff?

A JSON diff compares parsed structures field by field, while a text diff compares raw characters line by line. Reordered keys show no difference in the ToolSura JSON Diff tool but light up in a text diff. Use structured comparison for configs and APIs, text diff for prose or logs.

Can I convert a large CSV file to JSON without uploading it?

Yes. The ToolSura CSV to JSON Converter reads the file in your browser, so size is limited by your device memory rather than a server upload cap. Headers become JSON keys automatically. For oversized files, use the CSV Splitter to chunk them first, then convert each piece.

When should I generate a JSON Schema from sample data?

Generate a schema when you need a repeatable validation contract for an API, webhook, or config file. The ToolSura JSON Schema Generator infers types, required fields, and array structures from one sample. Treat the output as a starting point and tighten enum values, ranges, and pattern constraints before relying on it.

Do these data tools work offline?

Yes. Once the page loads, every ToolSura data tool runs client-side JavaScript with no server dependency. You can format JSON, convert CSV, diff structures, and validate UUIDs on a plane or a restricted network. Only the initial page load needs a connection.

    • Base64 Encoder/Decoder

Turn text or files into Base64 and back. Paste, convert, copy. Nothing leaves your tab.

    • JSON Formatter & Validator

Paste messy JSON and get it formatted and validated, with errors pointed out by line.

    • CSV to JSON Converter

Turn spreadsheet CSV into structured JSON, ready for code or an API payload.

    • JSON to CSV Converter

Flatten nested JSON into a clean CSV spreadsheet, quoting handled.

    • JSON Diff/Compare

Put two JSON blobs side by side and see exactly what changed, key by key.

    • JSON to YAML Converter

Rewrite JSON config as YAML without retyping brackets and quotes by hand.

    • CSV Splitter/Merger

Split a giant CSV into smaller files, or stitch several files into one.

    • JSON Schema Generator

Drop in sample JSON and get back a JSON Schema draft you can validate against.

    • JSON Schema Validator

Check JSON against a schema and get errors with exact paths, not vague failures.

    • HTML Table Generator from CSV

Paste CSV and get a styled, responsive HTML table ready to drop into a page.

    • Base62 Encoder/Decoder

Encode data in compact Base62 (0-9, a-z, A-Z) for short IDs and URLs.
